AUCKLAND, January 24.
Decisions regarding the occupancy of residences by wives, of teachers on leave with the military forces were conveyed to the Auckland Education Board today by the Director of Education. ,
The Director stated that the question had been raised of the liability of teachers for the rent of residences while on military service. It had been provided that when a teacher with a residence joined the forces he was required to inform his employing board whether or not he wished to retain use of the residence. If he elected to retain use of the residence he was required to pay the rent determined under the regulations.
It was also stated that if a married teacher was appointed while on leave with the forces to a position where a residence was provided his wife was' entitled to occupy the residence from, the, date which the employing board regarded as the date of the teacher's appointment. If the wife occupied the residence she would be required to pay the usual rent.
