PIPE BAND DISPLAY.
Not everyone in Wellington has seen pipe bands competing in drum majors' displays. Some might have seen an occasional band in action, but tomorrow, at Athletic Park, an opportunity will be given of seeing the best bands in the Dominion competing against each other for honours. A visitor from Canada who was • present at the Dominion pipe band contest in Christchurch last year said he wats thrilled with the spectacle, and stated that he had never seen anything like it in any part of the world, even in Scotland, the home of the pipes. With the pipes skirling and snappy marching evolutions, the display compares with the ceremonial presentation of the Colours in England. Athletic Park should hold record gatherings tomorrow and again on Saturday, while in the Town Hall on both these evenings the test selections will be held, interspersed with songs and exhibition dances.
