INFORMAL MEETING
BRITAIN'S DISTINGUISHED ENVOY
A very pleasant gathering was'held at the Hotel Waterloo on Tuesday! morning, when the Marquess of Willing* don, president for. the British Empire of the English-speaking Union, invited the members of the executive of the.Wellington branch to a delightfully informal meeting with him and Lady Willingdon". The visitors showed, a very keen interest in the work of the E.S.TJ. in New Zealand and a general discussion on the activities of the union* particularly during the present time" of war, took place. Mr. R. G. C. Ffitch (chairman. of the; executive) briefly welcomed Lord a!nd Lady Willingdon on behalf of the E.S.U., Wellington, and was supported by Mr. A. Leigh Hunt. Lord Willihgdon, in his reply, Expressed his grfeat pleasure at meeting" the members: or the most distant branch from liondott headquarters, and emphasised the importance of the work of the, E.S.U.; in the cause of peace and liberty. , Others present were Mesdames Treston, Knox Gilmer, E.
