STABLE SENSATION
DEATH OF A FOAL
MARE WEE PAT IN A BAD WAY
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
AUCKLAND, This Day.
The mysterious death of a three-months-old thoroughbred foal and the serious condition of the brood mare Wee Pat, both owned by the Onehunga sportsman Mr. A. Kemp, are being investigated by detectives.
Some days ago a filly foal by the imported horse Dink was found to be ill at Mr. Kemp's home. The filly died and was buried on Saturday morning. Later Wee Pat was found to be in a bad way, her mouth showing signs which, it is thought, might be due to burning by acid. Both the mare and her foal had- been feeding from the same bin, anci it, is thought possible that some miscreant interfered with the feed in the bin and added acid.
Wee Pat is still in a bad way, but is receiving veterinary attention from Dr. Ring. Wee Pat, who was a surprise winner of the Great Northern Hurdles at Ellerslie in 1934, is by Kilbroney out of a mare by Merriwee, and is nine years old.
