MUSIC TEACHING
INTERESTING THE PUBLIC
" The desirability of emphasising the value of music in all its branches as |an educational and cultural asset was 'brought before a large meeting of music teachers at the annual conference of the Music Teachers' Association of New Zealand, now being held in Wellington. • Members discussed the means ; of placing the aims of musical education before the public, and urged; the preparation of. lectures and demonstrations to meet local conditions, as well as cooperating with the association in the formulation of articles for publication.
The meeting carried a motion urging I the registration board to advertise in the leading newspapers in the four main centres-the names of all the registered music teachers in the localities covered by those newspapers. This measure was considered desirable as a guide to parents and prospective students in selecting qualified teachers.
