MEN FOR THIRD ECHELON
WELLINGTON FIGURES
The number of recruits for the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force available for posting to camp from the Wellington and Hutt Valley area continues to .grow as more recruits come forward and medical examinations proceed. Yesterday there were 19 enlistments, bringing the total to date to 3522. Of those so far dealt with by medical boards 2171 have been passed fit, 1671 have been sent to camp, and there is a balance available of 415. This balance represents principally the area's contribution so far towards the Third Echelon* though small numbers of the available fit men are being called up from time to time to make up strengths of Second' Echelon units already in camp. Up to last night there were 92 recruits awaiting medical examination. ' Preparations are being made for another intensive drive for recruits to complete the area's quota for the Third Echelon as soon as possible.
