VICEREGAL. At Government House today the Governor-General received his Excellency the Papal Legate, Archbishop Panico. Earl Beatty, chairman of the .Navy League, London, is now on active service with the Royal Navy. Prior to his acceding to the earldom on the death of his father he was1 a lieutenant in the Navy, and for some years has been chairman of the-Navy League at London headquarters. Twelve months aog he was in New Zealand with the Countess recovering from a very severe accident in the hunting field, but ha found time to deliver a number of addresses for the Navy League in Auckland and in Wellington before going on ■, to Australia, where he addressed the Navy League in Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide. ' Messrs. "L. W. Yeomans and W. T.» Mellen, specialists in their own departments with Colgate-Palmolive Pty., , Ltd., Australia, arrived today to train New, Zealanders for the new ColgatePalmolive factory at Petone. ' Mr. Justice Hunter, and Colonel P. - H. Bell, Quartermaster-General at v Army Headquarters, were arrivals^ from the South Island by the steamer express this, morning. Mr. W. I. E.* Forth, chairman of direo* . tors of J. C. Hutton Pty., Ltd., Brisbane, is visiting the Dominion. He it accompanied by Mrs. Forth. Mr. A. B. Ackland, assistant director of agriculture in Fiji, arrived at Auckland on Sunday on a holiday visit to New Zealand. Colonel R. Miles, QuartermasterGeneral, New Zealand Military Forces, returned to Wellington yesterday after visiting the northern military district ' Mr. B. H. Mason, who left New Zea- • land in November to take up a science ' scholarship in Norway, has arrived at >, Oslo. He will be with Professor V. M. Goldschmjdt, of, the Oslo Geological Museum.' Mr. H..E. Snell, a director and secretary of Morris Hedstrom, Limited, Suva, arrived at Auckland on Friday , from Fiji by the Monterey on a visit to New Zealand. He is accompanied' by Mrs. 'Snell.
