THE LOWRY HUT
EXCHANGE OF CHEQUES
The national council ,of the V.M.C.A. of New Zealand today handed to the National , Patriotic Fund Board, in accordance with Patriotic Fund regulations, Mr. T. H. Lowry's cheque.; for £10,000, given as a Centennial gift for the purpose of establishing and maintaining a "idwry" hut at the base camp for New Zealand soldiers overseas. The Patriotic Fund Board thereupon notified the V.M.C.A. that, in accordance' with Mr. Lowry's wishes, an amount of £10,000 would be paid, to the V.M.C.A. so that it could erect and maintain the proposed hut, and a cheque for the amount was handed to the secretary of the national V.M.C.A. immediately.
It is interesting to note that the cheque was signed by the GovernorGeneral as chairman of the Patriotic Fund , Board, and the Hon. Mark Fagan, as y deputy chairman. The National Patriotic: Fund Board is desirous of administering its funds so that the wishes of donors are complied with.
