RANKIN—CHARTERIS
A quiet wedding 4ookplace on December 23 at St. John's Presbyterian Church, Willis Street, Wellington, that of Doris Evelyn, elder daughter of Mr. and iMrs. Walter Charteris, Marston Road, Timaru, to Raymond Blake, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. John ! Rankin, Karori, Wellington. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Mr. Inks'ter. The bride, who- was given away b.y her father, wore a powder blue tailored frock with powder blue hat, and shoes to match. Her bouquet was of Christmas lilies, white sweet peas, cream roses, and maidenhair fern. She was attended by her sister, Miss Jessie Charteris, as bridesmaid. Miss Charteris wearing a light grey tailored ; frock with white hat and shoes. Her bouquet,was of pink roses, pink sweet I peas, and maidenhair fern. '■■ The bridegroom was attended by Mr. Gordon Hillen as best man. j The guests- were received by Miss | Jean Turner and the bridegroom's ' mother,. Mrs. Rankin. The former wore a grey tailored costume with navy accessories, and the latter a brown tailored costume with accessories to match. Later in the day, when Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Rankin left on their honeymoon the bride wore a navy frock with navy and white accessories to match. To remove ink stains from carpets and other woollen articles, pour vinegar on the stain until it is completely saturated, then "apply clean blottingpaper or pieces of rag until the ink has completely disappeared. Care must be taken to change the pieces of blottingpaper or the rags as soon as they are soaked with ink. If the stain is old, it I may be necessary to repeat the operaItion. i
