Leaflets which were placed by Germans, who boarded a Danish ship, in the cargo of eggs bound for a north-east English port, bore the name of a London printing firm. The head of this firm, W. J. Hasted and Son Ltd., of 306 Mile End Road, El, stated that the leaflets were clever forgeries. "For two years we have done printing work for the British Union of Fascists in the ordinary course of business," he said, "but we have done nothing of a seditious nature, and since the war everything has been passed by the censor. Everything we printed for them bore the name of the British Union pubisher as well as our own name as printers. There is no doubt that some of the leaflets we printed for the British Union found their way to Germany. To make their new propaganda leaflets look as if they emanated from this country the Germans must have added our name." Mr. Hasted visited Scotland Yard to help trace the origin of the forged leaflets. He did so to make quite clear that they could not have been printed by his firm. . An official of the British Union of Fascists stated that his party had never produced such leaflets. "The wording seems to be a jumble of some of our leaflets printed before the war," he said. .■■■'•' ' .
