LATE WAR SECRETARY
BRITISH PRESS AGREES
TYPICAL COMMENT
(British Official Wireless.) (Received January 18, 11.45 a.m.) RUGBY, January 17.
Newspaper comment on the stateme'Ats in the House of Commons yesterday regarding Mr. Hore-Belisha's resignation from the War Office stresses the negative aspect of the Prime Minister's speech and welcomes the assurance of no change in the policy of democratisation of the Army and of no disagreement between Mr. Chamberlain and Mr. Hore-Belisha on general policy. There is general agreement that Mr. Hore-Belisha may soon return to an important office. The conclusion by the "Manchester Guardian," which is typical of the general attitude towards the incident, is: "There, for the time, the matter ends. Mr. Hore-Belisha will yet come Lack again. Meanwhile let us get on with the most vigorous possible prosecution of the war.' 5
