Such good progress was made In the National Junior Championships at Miramar yesterday] that ,the manager of the tournament. Mr. 8., McL. Ferltins, .expressed himself as hopeful! that the tournament would conclude today instead of extending over the scheduled four days. In all, 66 matches were played yesterday, . the\ first rounds- of boys', girls', and mixed doubles and the second round of boys' and girls' singles being completed. Results were:— Girls' Singles. First Round.—P. Miller Northland) beat P. Young (Wellington), 0-0, 6-2. Mixed Doubles. Tirst Round. —Johns and Hodges, P. Smith and Miller, Brown and Huse, Smith and liongton, Meachen and Nash, Kidd and Dickie all had byes. McKenzlo and Elsom beat Winstanley and Humphries, 6-2, 6-1; Kelly and Bissett beat Dillon and Todd, 6-1. 6-1; Shone and Wilson beat Perry and Lloyd, 6-1, 6-1; Jones and Mctisky beat Murray and'Gray-Young, 6-3, 6-2; Norris and Burrell beat Campbell and Mackenzie, 6-2, 6-0; Lyons and Mules beat Ingram and Young, 6-3, 5-0, 6-2; Daly and Carrell beat Calvert and Alexander, 6-3, 6-3; Graham and Sexton beat Clive Campbell and Ludlow, 6-1, 6-2; Field and Bothamley beat Freeman and Gilmour, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4; Dillon and Todd beat Wallace and Board, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.
