A NAUTICAL DANCE
YACHTSMEN ENTERTAINED
To celebrate the nautical 1940 national sailing championships and Centennial regatta, the many yachtsmen from all parts of New Zealand who are visiting Wellington were entertained by the Wellington Provincial Yacht and Motor-boat Association at a very enjoyable dance given at the Brougham Street Hall last night. The dance was organised by Mr. Kerry Lane. The evening's celebrations were conducted in true nautical style, and a special reception was accorded the Auckland yachtsmen and their crews, winners of the 1940 Sanders Cup. Blazers and their club colours, worn by the many yachtsmen present, were predominant among the large crowd that filled the hall, Where an excellent orchestra and good floor, were enjoyed by the dancers, as were Boomps-a-daisy, the Lambeth Walk, Monte Carlo, and other modern popular dances. ■ ;-. A sit-down supper was provided. The association welcomed the visitors and their friends who were present, and thanked those who had assisted with the arrangements for the dance. To clean coloured candles: rub them; with a paste made of French chalk and (. spirits of wine.
