LOCAL ASSOCIATION
HOLIDAY MATCHES
The Wellington Cricket Association's management committee met yesterday afternoon.
An invitation was received from Palmerston North for a Wellington eleven to play against a Manawatu team at Palmerston North at New Year.
The chairman (Mr. J. H. Phillipps) said that owing to finance a second Wellington representative eleven could not be sent, but a club team from Wellington might possibly accept the invitation.
The City Council stated that two wickets at Karori and one at Nairnville would not be available for play next Saturday as the result of this week's storm.
Mr. A. Ronaldson was appointed manager of the Wellington Plunket Shield team to play Auckland, and Mr. W. A. Baker, manager of the Wellington team to play Canterbury. It was reported that the Auckland Plunket Shield representatives would arrive at Wellington at 10 a.m. on December 22. The association decided that all ciuo and colts' practices on the Basin Reserve should finish this week. Practices will be resumed on January 4.
