NEW MINISTER WELCOMED
A large gathering was held in tin Church of Christ, Vivian Street, last night to welcome the church's new minister, Mr. V. C. Stafford, previously of Invercargill.
Mr. J. M. Graydon, who presided, said that Mr. and Mrs. Stafford were Western Australians, and that- until coming to Invercargill some years ago they were stationed at Taree, New South Wales, where Mr. A. G. Saunders, the church's late minister, \va9 now located.
Letters of greeting were read from Mr. Saunders and from Mr. A. G. Donald, president of the Associated Churches of Christ Conference in New Zealand.
Speakers on behalf of the sister churches in Wellington were Messrs. R. W. Simpson, minister' at Lower Hutt, D. Walsh, Petone, Milton Vickery, Wellington South, and W. G. Graham, minister at Wellington South, who spoke on behalf of the general executive and home mission committee.
Vocal items were given by the choif and by Mrs. H. J. Chapman. The Rev. Arthur Muriel, of the Cambridge Terrace Congregational Church, emphasised ,the close co-operation existing in Wellington between the ministers of the various denominations.
After the presentation of a bouquet had been made to Mrs. Stafford by Mrs. N. F. Callam, who represented ;t.ha ladies of the church, Mr. and Mr? Stafford replied to the welcome.
