PUPILS' WORK
HUTT VALLEY TECHNICAL
Expression of youth's natural mechanical ability and artistic sense is given ample scope in the educative courses at the Hutt Valley Memorial Technical College, and the result is seen in the display of pupils' work now being shown at the college. Much that is almost as finished as the work of a true craftsman is produced during the course of a year, and there is nothing better than a visit to the display as a means of examining the aims of the school. The buildings in which the work is displayed have had a constant stream of visitors passing through, admiring the work done in • classes embracing arts, crafts, cookery, dressmaking, bookkeeping, shorthand, typewriting, history, and geography. Pupils are also to be seen at work in these classes.
One of the new departures this year is a display of the work done in the hobby classes. This is meant to encourage pupils to make proper use of Iheir leisure time. Music clubs are also responsible for another new display, and the electrical and manual training displays show commendable talent.
