TRAVEL CLUB TEA

NEW MEMBERS WELCOMED

Morning tea was held by the Wellington Travel Club in.the club room, T. and G. building, yesterday to welcome new members. The hostesses were Mrs. J. I. Goldsmith (executive member, Mrs. P. G. Harle, Mrs. T. M. Donovan, Mrs. G. A. Adams, Mrs. James McKeowen (committee members), and Miss N. E. Donovan (secretary). The new members welcomed, were Mrs. Cecil Prime, Mrs. M. E. Harrington, Mrs. A. Hird, Mrs. S. E. Potter, Mrs. A. E. Bentley, Mrs. Ray Brown, Mrs. M. G. Rye, Mrs. M. Henn, Mrs. A. E. Farrant, Mrs. Charles Dyer, Mrs. Lewis Grant, Mrs. F. G. Oborn.

After morning tea was served, Mrs. Goldsmith, on behalf of the club and the hostesses, welcomed the new members. She stated that the club was going to continue its activities as usual. She emphasised the point that both the Government and Mr. Hislop, the Mayor, had asked all organisations to pursue a "business as usual" policy which would help to win the war, but a "down tools" policy would definitely not assist the great fight for democracy. Mrs. Goldsmith said that she hoped and believed that the morning teas would enable the new members to get to know each other and so assist the spirit of comradeship to prevail in the club. She also mentioned that an evening party would be held on October 10 which she hoped the members would attend. The tea concluded with a social half-hour, when general appreciation was expressed by members for the opportunity of meeting socially in an intimate atmosphere.

When preserving eggs, first smear the palm of the hand with a little butter. Rub it over each egg—a mere film. It helps to maintain their freshness in the water-glass. When the eggs are taken out they should be pricked just before cooking if they are to be boiled.
