This morning his Excellency th« Governor-General presided at a meeting of the Executive Council.
Their Excellencies the GovernorGeneral and Lady Galway were present last evening at the Masonic concert which was held in the Town Hall in»aid of the Cathedral Fund.
Mr. Percy Coyle has returned from Australia.
Dr. Crawford McCullough, Toronto, who was present at the. recent AllAustralia Rotary Conference in Sydney recently, will visit New Zealand shortly. He is a past president of Rotary International. Dr. McCullough will be the guest of the Wellington Rotary Club on October 11.
Major K. L. Stewart, 0.8. E., N.Z.S.C., who has been general staff officer at the Southern Military Command, arrived in Wellington today, on transfer to Army Headquarters.
Members of the council of .the New Zealand Golf Association this week paid a tribute of respect to the memory of the late Mr. J. C. Peacock, and expressed sorrow at the loss of such an enthusiastic worker and delightful pe|> sonality.
Sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr. W. J. Boden was expressed at today's meeting of the Wellington Education Board, members paying tribute to his services to education both as teacher and as inspector.
