WORK SUSPENDED
LARGE STATE BUILDING
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
AUCKLAND, September 5
Work by the contractor, the Williamson Construction Company; on the construction of an eight-storey State building on Jean Batten Place, had just started, has been suspended temporarily by arrangement with the Government. This has been done in order that the company may use all its resources and men on urgent defence work undertaken for the Government.
It is nearly two months since the contract for the Jean Batten Place building was let, but delay was involved in starting through the necessity to import materials and by other preparations.
