A SUBSTANTIAL INCREASE

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, September 2. The Combined Hunts' Meeting concluded today in fine, bright weather. 'There was a large attendance, and the totalisator handled £20,441, compared with £16,046 on the second day last year, an increase of £4395 The total for the meeting was £34,543, against £27,105 10s, a total increase of £<437 10s. ■■■■■• „ -After the running of^ the Uremu Hack Handicap, H. J. Callahan, rider of Dainty Dell, weighed m 2£lb overweight. As the rules allow only 21b over Dainty Dell was disqualified, and third money went to the fourth horse May Song. At all racing club meetings during the past week there has been strong ! protest against the removal of the 1 per cent, rebate on the totalisator tax. It remains for some club to recognise the help the.Government has given them all during the last four years.
