TO TOUR DOMINION

WHICH ELEVEN?

ENGLISH AND SOUTH AFRICAN

POSSIBILITIES

. The opinion that it might be advisable to have a South African team in New Zealand next season rather than the Islington Corinthians was expressed by Mr. F. Campbell, chairman of the Council of the New Zealand Football Association at its meeting last night when cabled advice was 'received from the Islington Corinthians that they, required £2000 to- bring them to and take them home from New Zealand, and £3000 if Australia was to be. included. No decision was made pending the settlement of negotiations with the Australian Association. Other members present were Messrs. P. Mackenzie, J. H. Milburn, W. B. Hicks. B. Martin, J. Y. Walls, J. H. Dick, F. Sanders, and H. H. A. Renai. A challenge was received from Hawke's Bay for the Brown Shield which is at present held by Manawatu. The game will probably be played at Palmerston North and September 16 has been suggested as a date by the Manawatu Association. Comment was made on the notification by the New Zealand Referees' Association that Mr. S. Doree, of Canterbury, had been appointed to control the Chatham Cup final between Waterside (Wellington) and Western (Christchurch). It was thought by some members of the council that the referee should not be a Wellington or a Canterbury man.
