ITALIAN PRESS STATEMENT

(Received August 18, 9.30 a.m.) I ROME, August 17. The Press urges Poland o negotiate directly with Germany, and contends that, although the Axis Powers want ! peace with justice, no conference can be held until the Danzig question is settled. The "Giornalo d'ltalia" says that Poland has nothing to lose by dealing with Germany, and that if, instead of negotiating, she prefers Avar she should remember that Italy will do her duty and that the Axis is unbreakable, like steel.
