CENTRAL OTAGO SUFFERS

(By Telegraph—Press Association.)

DUNEDIN, This Day

Dunedin got no more than the Hick of the tail of the snowstorm which swept the province last night. There was a quick thaw under sunshine this morning and no traffic stoppages.

The Maniototo area in Central Otago has suffered badly, all roads being blocked. It is known that at least three cars were abandoned on the Ranfurly-Wedderburn Road. Waipori had a fresh fall. The settlers here have been snowbound for six weeks. Sheep losses are expected to be heavy, for many sheep have been under snow for six weeks and the frozen surface has cut off the air supply.
