"I" SQUADRON BALL

LEGION QPFRONTIERSMEN

OVER THREE HUNDRED

GUESTS

The silver chain mail epaulettes and highly-polished buttons on the dark blue uniforms of the members of the "I" Squadron of the Legion of Frontiersmen caught the light and added to the brilliance of the scene in St. Francis Hall last night when the squadron held its eighth annual ball. Members of other services were among the guests, who numbered over 300. The hall was gay with flags. The ensigns of the different colonies and dependencies waver gently overhead as the dancers moved on the floor below. Flags in frames of green crepe paper made bright splashes of colour on the walls, and the official alcove was draped with the Union Jack and red ensigns. Red and white, the squadron's colours, decorated the supper room, where yellow narcissi in green bowls and baskets were arranged on the tables. There was a good orchestra, and the squadron band played the extras. The | guests were entertained during intervals with exhibitions of ballroom danc-! ing by Mr. and Mrs. Thompson and a Spanish character dance by Miss Dorothy Daniels. % . • Those who organised the ball were Captain G.
