DASTUR STALLION

CHATSWORTH'S ARRIVAL

The English stallion Chatsworth, purchased recently by Mr. W. H. Burch, Rotorua, arrived at Auckland last Monday by the steamer Port Hunter. Chatsworth was foaled in 1935} and was the winner of the Blue Eiband Trial Stakes, of £179S to the winner, at Epsom. He was placed in several other important events and gamed recognition as a speedy and reliable racehorse.

As a son of Dastur from the Hurry On mare Bess of Hardwick, Chatsworth, who will be at the service of breeders in New Zealand, is bred Oil the best lines! Dastur won twice at two years in the colours of the Aga Khan. He then won the Irish Derby, King Edward VII Stakes, and Sussex Stakes, and was second in the Two Thousand, Derby, and St. Leger. As a four-year-old he Avon the Coronation Cup, and, when sent to the stud, he was an immediate success, being fifth on the, ; list of sires of winning tWO year-olds last year. He is half-brother by Solario to the Triple Crown winner Bahram.

Bess of Hardwick, Chatsworth's dam, is a half-sister to Omar Khayyam, winner of the Kentucky Derby and sire of winners of over £100.000. She stands in the same relationship to Lady Peregrine, dam of Flamingo (Two Thousand Guineas) and sire of this year's Ascot Gold Cup winner, Flyon.
