SYDNEY, This Day.
The well-known trainer Jack Holt has been selected to train the Duke of Kent's horse Dhoti, who will arrive in. Melbourne on August 22. Holt received a letter from the Duke's secretary in which he stated that the Duke intends to race one or two horses while in Australia.
Holt, whose stables are at Mordialloc, has been for many years one of the foremost of Australian trainers. Among the very many winners who have passed through his hands is Hall Mark, Melbourne Cup victor of 1933, also the dual Derby hero of that year, and Nuffleld, another dual Derby winner. He won the Caulfield Cup with Eurythmic, Maple, and High Syce, King's Cup (Second Wind), Moonee Valley Cup (Royal Charter, Telecles), Cantala Stakes (Highland), V.R.C Oaks (Gallantic), Williamstown Cup (Second Wind twice, Tangalooma), V.A.T.C. Futurity Stakes (Eurythmic, Heros, the latter a dead heat with Synagogue), and many other important events, including the Standish Handicap of* 1926 for Lady Stradbroke with Trice.
