SNOW ON RANGES
PROSPECTS FOR SKIING
i Special to the 'Evening Post")
OTAKI, This Day
Heavy cloud, which early today obscured the mountain tops in the vicinity of the skiing grounds at Kime Hut, had cleared away by midday, exposing the ranges heavily covered with snow. In addition to the heavy falls last week, there have been some fair falls during the last few days, and there is still a crisp sprinkling on Table Top and in the vicinity of Field Hut.
Last ,week only a few enthusiasts ventured up into the snow, no doubt in view of the weather report. Those who went up to Kime w.ere rewarded on Sunday by some very good skiing, the weather for the most part being fine. Though the snow was in places icy, there were some good patches, and skiing was continued until later than usual, the return from Field Hut being made mostly in the. dark and in falling snow.
Today Otaki is enjoying brilliant sunshine, and the prospects for skiing during the weekend appear promising.
