WELLINGTON TEAMS

TO PLAY AT GISBORNE AND PALMERSTON NORTH

In response to a request from the Manawatu Football Association for a Wellington representative team to visit Palmerston North, the management committee of the Wellington Football Association last night decided that no representative team could be sent, but four first A division club teams—Hospital, Diamond, Technical Old Boys, and Marist —have byes on August 12 and the committee will suggest that one of them visit Palmerston North. It was decided to send a representative team to play Poverty Bay, at Gisborne, on September 2. Mr. J. J. Kean is to select the team. The chairman (Mr. J. Meltzer) presided, and there were also present Messrs. J. J. Kean. A. J. Costelloe, M. H. Webley, E. J. Gates, R. Bald, A. E. Powers, E. J. McQueen, R. Gilpin, G. F. Aers, J. H. Janes, C. Ballard, K. Spolsky, and the secretary (Mr. W. J. Arcus). Senior fixtures for Saturday week, August 12, were made as follows:— Semi-finals Auld Memorial Cup and First A Division Championship. Seatoun v. Swifts, Basin No. 2. Waterside v. Petone, Basin No. 1. First B Division — First Round Victory Cup. Institute Old Boys v. Miramar Rangers, Crawford Green. It was decided to try to arrange a game on August 12 at Porirua between Hospital and a representative team selected from the six disengaged first B division teams.
