MARKET GARDENERS
ANNUAL CONFERENCE
The annual Dominion conference of the Commercial Growers of New Zealand, a body which represents the market gardeners and producers from other small farms in tlie Dominion, will commence at 9.30 a.m. tomorrow in the Accountants' Chamber, Johnston Street. The conference promises to be easily the largest yet held, as representatives will be present from districts from the North Cape to the Bluff. Many districts not hitherto represented are sending delegates.
There are sixty remits on the order paper. It is anticipated that the remit which will cause the greatest interest will be the following: "That the conference consider the act of the Government in acquiring market gardening land for housing purposes."
It was originally debated, among those interested, whether the remit could be considered of local and not Dominion interest, but the amount of support coming from outside districts has shown that other districts having market gardening lands closer to their cities than Taita is to Wellington are taking lively interest in the matter.
