(By Telegi-aph—Press Association.)

INVERCARGILL, July 16.

A £old dredge owned by Mr. J. A. S. Aiken, Gore, and situated in the Chatton district, was completely destroyed by fire early this morning. The dredge was not iiiSm-ed, and Mr. Aiken is a heavy loser the" damage being estimated at about £300.

It is understood that a fireman removed the fire from under the boiler on Saturday night in preparation for draining out the boiler, and it is thought that a spark from this fire caused the outbreak.
