PONEKE V. ATHLETIC
Neither Poneke nor Athletic were at full strength when they met at Anderson Park. Playing the sounder football, Poneke won by 0 points to 3. After Athletic had taken the lead with a penalty goal kicked by Hammond, the Poneke forwards showed first-class dribbling and following one rush Calcinai scored. The second try was the result Of a good passing rush which Calcinai again topped off. The Athletic forwards worked hard, but the backs failed to function at any time, and threw away two very good chances of tries through poor handling.
