NOTES ON PLAYERS

S. Wilson (Huia), New Zealand representative full-back, has been playing outstanding hockey right throughout the season and seems to have at last lost his old tendency of dangerous hitting.

M. Browne (Karori), New Zealand representative inside left, is right on form and proving himself the usual nippy player with excellent stickwork and versatility.

C. Edwards (Karori) up to the time of his recent injury was playing wonderful hockey.

Spiers (Karori) is probably the best positional full-back in Wellington and although his play is not noticed from the side line it is of great value to his club side.

Russell (Huia) has shown form in club games up to representative standard, and it was unfortunate that he showed nervousness in the recent Manawatu game.

Chapman (Hutt), at right wing, is showing greatly-improved form this season and is much ahead of anything shown in previous seasons.

C, Muir (Hutt) is a tireless worker in the half line.

Goldstone (Technical) opens up the play nicely for his forward line.

C. Sharp (University) is playing well in club games, but is inclined to do too much and should curb his tendency to wander.

A. Dixon (University) is a young player who, by applying theory to his hockey and keeping fit, has vastly improved his form this season.

W. Bennett (Technical), goal keeper, is playing consistently well.

Fuller (Karori 2) is a young player

with promise and should go far in the] game. Hamel (Karori 2), at right half, has shown good form, especially in defence. Coombe (Wellington), as captain of i the team, has been a tower of strength to his side at centre naif. Stevenson (Wellington), at inside left, is a young player who, if he continues to improve, will be a great asset to Wellington in future years.
