Mr. J. S. Brigham, who was for many years Town Clerk of Auckland and a former City Treasurer, has been appointed by the City Council to the Board of City Sinking Fund Commissioners. He succeeds the late Sir George Wilson.
Dr. E. Hees, of Wiesbaden, Germany, author of several works on research in gynaecology, and Frau Hees arrived at Auckland by the Tasman. from Batavia yesterday in the course of a world tour. They will leave for Sydney by the Monterey on August 4.
Mr. -A. E. Hynes's appointment as Clerk of the Magistrate's Court at Rotorua and Putaruru was gazetted last night.
Messrs. R. T. H. Dale and J. McArthur have, as notified in the Gazette, been appointed inspectors of explosives under the Explosives and Dangerous Goods Act for the purpose of inspecting explosives at mines and quarries.

Mr. I. H. Mathieson's appointment as inspector of clubs for the purpose of inspecting and reporting on chartered clubs under the Licensing Act is notified in the Gazette.
The appointment by the Wellington. Harbour Board of Mr. C. M. Turrell to be a member of the Board of Trustees of the National Art Gallery and Dominion Museum was gazetted last night. •
Mr. Allan Bruce has, according to the Gazette, been appointed Deputy Registrar of Births, Marriages,, and Deaths for the Murchis'on district, Net son.
