IN GOOD CONDITION
AUSTRALIAN DAVIS CUP
PLAYERS
(Received July 6, 2.40 p.m.)
SAN ANTONIO (Texas), July 5,
The Australian Davis Cup players have arrived from Mexico for exhibition matches here. They are in splendid condition, except that Quist is described by the manager, Hopman. as "a little off colour," and is rigidly following a milk diet prescribed by a physician. He expects, however, to be back to form within a week.
The team has rejected invitations to play further exhibition matches, preferring to hasten to Long Beach in order to get a week's practice on the California courts before meeting the Filipinos.
Mr. Temple White and the members of the Tudor Singers spent the weekend at Hastings, where they were the guests of the Hawke's Bay branch of the British Music Society. A very successful and largely-attended concert was given on Saturday night, and a programme was rendered on Sunday afternoon at Woodford House School, Havelock North.
