PARAMOUNT THEATRE.
Elisabeth Bergner
The entire'world knows that of all the truly great dramatic actresses that the screen has brought to the picturegoers of all nations, Elisabeth Bergner ranks among the first four. In "Stolen Life," which, opens tomorrow at the Paramount Theatre, the opinion strongly asserts itself that she comes very close to being the peer of them all. "Stolen Life" has a story tljat any heart anywhere can understand. It is a story . that any real man or woman will; embrace, for the same story has happened-, to many and can happen to almost -anyone. In other Words, fundamental drama is inivolved in "Stolen Life,"" even though the manner of its telling may appear more colourful than anything that I could happen to mere mortals. Withal, it is a story not for telling here. This is simply an advice of the advent of I a great Paramount picture arid with it the addition of two fine names to the growing roster of Paramount stars. Miss Bergner definitely dignifies- any roster with her presence; ; Michael Redgrave, through his incomparable work in "The Lady Vanishes,", likewise is a most popular asset. Moreover, the picture has Miss Bergner playing the roles of twin sisters, so that from a strictly accurate point of view the film gives one two Bergners for the price of one. In addition the Paramount Theatre will present a brilliant first half. Well varied and each a gem of entertainment'in itself, this supporting programme has been personally selected, and includes a musical classic, "Tannhauser," probably the finest musical short yet seen in this country. Then there is a Walt Disney cartoon, "Donald's Golf Game," starring the popular Donald Duck, a comedy, "Not Guilty Enough," another of the "Popular Science" series, a sportlight about sharks, "Deep Sea Monsters;" "Trees," a musical romance m colour, a travel talk, "Jungle Glimpses," and the latest overseas newsreel.
