REICH BANS COTTON GARB
I -* ! German women, it was announced recently, would not be able to buy cotton lingerie or printed goods after July 1 because the material will be needed "for more impoi-tant national and army purposes;" The Economics Ministry announced this fact at a meeting of textile industrialists. The production of sheer silk stockings also may be banned, since they fall in the category of "trashy goods"—goods that look well and are expensive but do not wear well. It was said that production of "trashy goods" would be drastically curtailed and that the manufacture of sheer stockings "represents an • unnecessary waste of raw materials."
