HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

The House of Representatives met at 2.30 o'clock this afternoon.

Mr. F. W. Doidge (National,. Tauranga) gave notice to ask the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage), in view of the declaration by the Prime Minister that.New Zealand was not in a state of voluntary liquidation, would he forthwith remove restrictions pertaining to the issue of money orders for small -payments overseas?

"This morning," said Mr. Doidge, "I went into the General Post Office in Wellington and asked permission to transmit the sum of £1 to Australia. T was told that I could not have authority today; that I must return tomorrow. I pleaded that I should have a money order today, since the mail goes out by the Wanganella this afternoon. My plea was refused. Ultimately, as a compromise, I was permitted to send a sum of less than £1".. If New Zealand is solvent, will the Prime Minister take steps to remove the disabilities involving such a humiliating experience?"
