BOWLING FUNCTION

ISLAND BAY CLUB

PRIZES PRESENTED

The annual smoke .concert and presentation of prizes of-"the Island Bay Bowling Club was held recently, the function being most successful.. Mr. iw. Kerr presided over a large attendance. [ Among the visitors welcomed by Mr. :Kerr were Messrs. M. J. Casey (president of the New Zealand Bowling Association). F. A. Spiller (secretary of I the Wellington Bowling Centre), and 'H. J. Wynne (president of.the Thorndon Bowling Club). The toast list included "The Wellington Bowling Centre," proposed by Mr. H. F. Clarke arid responded to by Messrs. M. J. Casey and Spiller; "The Prize Winners," proposed by Mr. A. Finch and acknowledged by Messrs. Kerr and F. J. Jones; ''The Artists," proposed(by Mr; E. M. Gallagher and replied to by Mr. F. Petersen; "The | Visitors," proposed by Mr. Kerr and ■ responded to by Mr. Wynne; and'"The Ladies," toasted in their absence by Mr. T. G. Ricketts. In proposing the toast of the Bowling Centre. Mr. Clarke assured Mr. Casey that when he undertook the onerous duties in connection with the big Centennial tournament he could count on the wholehearted support of all the members of the Island Bay Club. Messrs. H. Goff, J. Matheson. H. F. Dibley. L. Bent, G. Nichol, T. s Bohlson, [p. Isbister, L. Quintan, Rubrick, Petersen.. J. Bailey. A. Millard, J. Millard, and P. Coleman contributed musical and vocal items. Mr. J. Milligan conducted an efficient orchestra. Mr. Casey presented the prizes as follows: — Junior singles (Gierke Cup), Mr. W. A. Mason, club pairs (Restieaux Cup and Boocock Badges), Messrs. G. W. Beckett and H. A. Hansen; percentage fours (Odlin Ribbons). Messrs. E. A. Eyres. H. R. Nicholls, L. Billings, and V. Recce; sealed handicap singles (trophy anonymous), Mr. G. S. Norris; senior singles (Willoughby Cup and Sargent Badge). Mr. F. J. Jones; champion pairs (Duncan Hearts), Messrs. W. Kerr and D. H. Taylor; champion fours (Smith Buttonsb.. Messrs. T. A. White, C. Fanthorpe. W. H. Hart, and A. R. Glen.
