SWAN BREWERY PROFITS
The Swan Brewery Co., Ltd., of Perth, reports a profit of £71,113 for the half-year ended May 31, compared with £54,210 in the preceding halfyear, and £68,025 in the corresponding period of 1937-38 Profit for the full year ended May 31 was thus £125.323, against £121,975 in 1937-38. The year's preference charge of 6 per cent. takes £3000, and ordinary dividend of Is a share is supplemented by a special bonus of 3d per share. The ordinary dividend is thus 25 per cent, on the 5s shares, and requires £129,116. This is an unchanged rate. After providing for taxation, profit of the subsidiary Emu Brewery, Ltd., for the six months ended March 31 was £25,202. The other subsidiary, West Australian Glass Manufacturers, Ltd., earned a profit of £8873 for the year ended June 30. 1938.
