BOLTON STREET CEMETERY
The response to the appeal of the citizens' committee who are clearing and planting in this area, was very gratifying indeed, writes the hon. organiser * for the committee (Mr. W. S. Wilson). On Saturday afternoon and on Monday, a large number of people were working and they have made quite an impression in different parts. The task, however, is very much greater than was anticipated in the beginning, and the committee states that a large number of people can be usefully occupied in this civic work. A splendid response also has been received from citizens who have promised quantities of plants and shrubs suitable for beautifying purposes. The need for more is great, as the planting season is not very long, and any further donations will be very welcome. Mr. T. L. Barker, of the City Council staff, has arranged for a large number of plants and trees to be planted next Saturday afternoon, and all those interested in improving this part of Wellington, are invited to give their assistance.
