THIRD RECITAL

Since the arrival in Wellington of Mr. Paul Schramm, Viennese pianist, his musicianly brilliance has become well known to local audiences. His third recital, on Saturday night, filled the Town Hall Concert Chamber and the applause of the large crowd was the best proof of «he real appreciation of the musical treat that was given.

Complete master of the pianoforte, Mr. Schramm delighted his audience with his versatility and his deftness of expression. His programme covered a wide range of subjects and all he treated with consummate skill.

The programme was as follows: — Organ Toccata in C Major (BachBusoni), Sonata quasi una fantasia. Op. 27, No. 2 (Beethoven), Fantasia in F Minor, Op. 49 (Chopin), "Spanish Dance" (Granados), "Dance of Terror" and "Sacred Dance of the Fire" (de Falla), Fantasia on Mozart's "Doa Giovanni" (Liszt).

The generous number of encoref included the "Andante Favour;" of Beethoven, a Chopin "Nocturne," "Toccata" of Prokofieff, "La Vallee le Cloches" of Ravel, Schumann's "Soaring," a Chopin waltz (arranged by Rosenthal), and Mr. Schramm's own arrangement of Henselt's "I Wish I Were a Bird."
