The Dominion Auctioneering Co., Ltd., Palmerston North, reports that the following prices were realised at their usual fair last week:—

Pigs.—Weaners. 6s (id to 11s fid; slips, 8s to 12s; stores, 17s to 18s; porkers, 24s 6d to 295.

Poultry.—Best W.L. hens, 5s to 6s per pair; heavy hens. 6s to 8s per pair; heavy cockerels, 7s 6d to 8s 6d per pair; light cockerels, 5s to 6s 6d per pair; ducks, 5s 10d to 8s per pair; pullets, 4s to 7s 3d each. TOOTH AND CO. DIVIDEND. Tooth and Co., Ltd.. brewers. Sydney, has declared an interim halfyearly dividend of 12 per cent, per annum. Last year the company paid an interim dividend of oj uer cent, and a final of 6 per cent., making 11£ per cent, for the full year. NGAHERE GOLD DREDGE. Ngahere Gold Dredging Ltd., Sydney, reports that the New Zealand Government Railway Department, which is the contractor, expects to hand over the company's dredge ready for work by the end of October. The directors have arranged for the finance to bring the dredge into production. They state that the various areas disclose favourable dredging conditions Messrs. C. C. Davis and D S. McKenzie have been appointed to the board and Mr. Davis is chairman of the New Zealand board. PRODUCE IN LONDON. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London, dated May 12, 1939:— Tallow.—Spot market quiet, more interest shown for shipments. Present spot quotations are:—Mutton, fine 235; good 20s; fair 16s to 16s *d. Beef, fine, none; good 17s. fair 15s 6d to 16s. Mixed, good 17s, fair 15s 6d to 16s, gut 13s 6d to 15s. Mutton, dark to dull, 14s 6d to 16s. Beef, dark to dull, 13s 6d to 15s

Hemp.—Manila: Market dull. Closing value "X" grade May-July shipment £16 15s. Sisal: Market very quiet on basis of May-July shipment, value £16 17s 6d.

Fruit. — Port Darwin Dunkirk; Arawa apples Southampton; Mataroa, Doric Star, London, discharged in good condition. Apples: Better demand, prices slightly higher. Pears: Slight improvement. The following are the market values of sound conditioned fruit of the varieties mentioned, the range of prices generally representing the difference between the several grades and/or counts. Variable conditioned fruit of similar varieties proportionately less in value. Cox's Orange apples 9s to 15s: Ballarat apples 10s to lls; Jonathan. Delicious, Cleopatra apples 9s to lls; Dunn's Favourite, London Pippin. Lord Wolseley apples 9s to 10s; Winter Cole pears 8s to 9s. NATIONAL RELIANCE TRUST. A cablegram received by the Stock Exchange Association of New Zealand today from Melbourne states that the directors of the National Reliance Investment Trust have declared a dividend of 4£ per cent., payable June 9, the date of the annual meeting of the Trust. The dividend for 1936, 1937. and 1938 was 6 per cent. The company is one of the Were group of investment trusts formed in 1929, and its shares are wide ly held in Australia and New Zealand, and are quoted on the Stock Exchange. Mutual Life and Citizens' Assurance Co., Ltd.. has increased its capital from £200,000 to £1,000,000, by the creation of 800,000 new £1 shares. The chief hemp grader reports that 373 bales of hemp were graded at the ports of the Dominion last month, a decrease of 575 bales on April, 1938. Tow gradings totalled 86 bales, a de-| crease of 165 bales on the corresponding month last year.
