MESSAGE IN BOTTLE
TWO YEARS' TRAVEL
About two years ago, on August 21, 1937, four men dropped a bottle containing their names and addresses and a request to the finder to communicate with them, over the side of the Maunganui, bound from Nukualofa to Auckland, approximately 90 miles from Nukualofa. After two years meandering" on the bosom of the ocean the bottle landed on the coast of Queensland. The finder of the bottle arid message has communicated as directed with one of the men in Wellington, and in a letter dated April 20, 1939, states that the bottle was found on the east side of Frazer Island, which is off the coast of Queensland. It is interesting to note, the finder says, that the bottle was washed up six miles south of where the Maheno was wrecked and still lies.
