The Poverty Bay Turf Club's Steeplechase Meeting opened at Makaraka today. There was a good attendance and the track was in good order. Results:—
Park Hurdles, £130; 1| miles.—l Peter Beckford, 10.9 (Kerr), 1; 3 Small Boy, 11.12, 2; 4 Glenvane, 10.4, 3. Scr.: Summerhill, Birkology, Royal Stuart, Sanguinetta. Head; three lengths. Time, 2min 47sec.
Hack Flat Handicap, £110; 6 furlongs.—B Golden Flame, 7.7 (Callahan), 1; 2 Native Song, 8.0, 2; 4 Mimicry, 8.1, 3. Scr.: Hunting Mint, Little Idea, Ace Willonyx. Length and a quarter; length and a quarter. Time, lmin 15 l-ssec.
