DESERTING SEAMAN

AUCKLAND, May 12,
A plea of guilty was entered by John Kavanagh, able seaman, when he appeared in the Magistrate's Court charged with deserting from the steamer Cornwall, at Auckland, ,on April 28.
"These deserters continue to give us trouble," said a shipping company
official
In this particular case the ship had left New Zealand and the company had no position for the accused to go to at present.
The accused was admitted to probation for one year. He was also ordered to. return to England in one of the company's ships, if called upon within that period. , ___. .
