BOWLING PRIZES

NEWTOWN CLUB

A very successful prize-giving social was recently held by the Newtown Bowling Club. The president (Mr. G. W. Booth) presided over the gathering of members and friends, which filled the clubroom to capacity. The club had experienced a most successful playing season, he said. The membership had been restricted owing to lack of accommodation for all who were offering, but steps were now being taken to provide two extra rinks, which should be available for play about the end of the present-year.

Championship badges were presented to the winners of the champion events as follows: —Champion fours, F. Kuch, J. Remington, B. A. Guise, and C. W. Barker (s); champion pairs, G. W. Bird and F. Russell (s); champion singles, A. R. Hastings; junior singles, C. H. Denhard, whose name is also engraved on the Spear Shield. The winners of the percentage fours, J. C. Fraser, F. Kuch, H. Austin, and F. Russell," were presented with the Fownes Buttons. The winners of the Wellington Bowling Centre's junior fours competition were presented with badges as a memento of their win. Trophies were also handed to winners of minor tournaments held during the season.

Musical items., were enjoyed during the evening, and supper was provided by the 'social committee.
