PRISONERS SENTENCED
Having pleaded guilty in the Magistrate's Court at Wellington to obtaining credit by false pretences, John Donne Collins, aged 27, a labourer and rabbiter, was sentenced by Mr. Justice Reed in the Supreme Court today to twelve months' imprisonment with hard labour, to be served concurrently with a longer term he is at present serving. Collins was also declared a habitual criminal.
Henare Kawakawa Hauiti, aged 21, a shepherd and labourer, who pleaded guilty in the Magistrate's Court at Te Araroa to attempted unlawful carnal knowledge, was m^ered to come up for sentence if jEfled upon within twelve months. He was ordered not to associate with the girl concerned in the case, and to pay costs amounting to £5 10s 6d. Mr. R. L. A. Cresswell appeared for him.
