Plant out cabbages, cauliflowers, and other greens. To protect the plants from "fly" dip the tops in a solution of arsenate of lead before planting. If the weather continues dry plants,should be puddled in. Clear off all spent crops and dig over the plots vacated, leaving the surface rough for weathering. Lime and manure should be added alternately each season.

Keep down all seedling weeds. If allowed to seed they cause much added labour. Sowings may be made of cabbages, cauliflowers, and lettuces. Raised beds in sheltered sunny positions are best for sowing at this season/
