THE WEEK'S WORK
THE FLOWER GARDEN
Divide and replant perennials as soon as the ground has become
moist. This is a good time to rearrange borders which should be well dug and manured before the plants are put back. Roses may be planted as soon as they are available and any which are to be transplanted may be removed now. Very large bushes to be removed should have some of the branches shortened. Sow in the open ground mignonette, stocks, larkspurs, calendulas, nemophila, Virginia stock, sweetpeas, and other hardy plants. Outdoor sowing should not be done in districts where frosts are likely. Various spring bulbs may still be planted but the sooner they are in the better. Keep chrysanthemums well tied in and be sure that the stakes are sound and secure in the ground. Clean up all vacant plots and dig over in readiness for future planting.
