TABLE TENNIS
Although table tennis inter-club matches in the Wellington district will not start until about the middle of May, the majority of clubs have already been officially opened. Judging by the enthusiasm shown, some good play will be seen in Wellington, the Hutt Valley, and the Wairarapa. Interest in the city is keener than ever and the suburbs are fast taking up table tennis as a winter pastime.
To mark the opening of the season in the Wairarapa, a handicap tournament will be held at the Winter Sports' Club rooms at Masterton on Saturday night. From Wellington, M. Gosling and L. Wilson will lead a party of approximately twenty, and the Empire Club (Hutt Valley) has hired a bus to take its representatives up. On Monday, starting at " p.m., the Empire Club will open proceedings in the Hutt Valley with an open handicap tournament at the M.U. Oddfellows' Hall. Already interest has been shown in the tournament. Post entries will be accepted.
